Improve your results by taking control of your camera settings.
Now you have upgraded to a better camera. You have probably been using it a bit, most likely on the recommended AUTO setting unless you have a lot of experience in photography. It works well most times, but sometimes it is just not as good as you think it should be. Besides you know you can do better with a bit more knowledge of your camera and photography. You would be absolutely right, and you will get that quickly and painlessly right here.
If you are like me, you don’t want to be stuck doing boring lessons when you could be out taking photos, so we have made the Camera Settings Quick Start Guide. You will be out there again in almost no time with more control over your camera, and getting the results you want. We have made it just that easy. The Camera Settings Quick Start Guide’s first mini feature “How to make it better” will start you on you easy and fun journey to better photography. By following these quick and simple Videos, you will know shutter speeds, apertures, and ISO’s like an expert. The long hard expensive way that we learned in the old days is a joke, compared to what we will show you now.
The wonderful technology that has made your camera easy to use has also made it a bit of a nightmare to take control over. That auto mode we were talking about is good for those who don’t care about improving their photos, but now it is getting in your way. Feature one, “How to make it better” is the first of many small simple steps to you taking control of your camera settings and a working knowledge of what’s going on. Soon all that mumbo jumbo displayed on the back of your camera will make sense.
I recommend viewing each video with your camera with you, the manual as well in case a particular feature is not easy to find just by looking at the camera. After each one, go out and try what you have learned. You are going to have fun with this, I promise.
Lets do it then! First step is taking control over EXPOSURE, simply how dark or how light the picture is. Get your camera and turn the exposure mode dial to “P”. Now check some of the other camera settings. Auto focus should already be on, ISO set to auto (or if it can’t be set to auto in P mode, set it to 400 for shady or cloudy, lower for brighter conditions or higher for darker conditions), and metering on Multi Pattern- Matrix (Nikon)/ESP (Olympus) /Evaluative (Canon). (unless you have shifted them yourself, the camera should be in these settings already) We are not getting too technical at this stage, the camera takes care of shutter speed and aperture in “P”. Our first step to freedom is the Exposure Compensator ([+/-] button and command dial usually). With this we can adjust the exposure darker or lighter to how we want it.
The understanding you will gain in these videos will really improve your photography. When it’s all happening around you, that’s when the good photos are there for the taking, when you know what you are doing, you will be getting the shots, not scratching your head wondering what went wrong.
With you new mastery over your Camera Settings, your confidence will go through the roof. That alone will drastically improve your photography, seriously!!
